BlackHawk Helicopter

Andy got to go on a 45 minute BlackHawk ride over Cedar Breaks and down through Zions' Kolob in April. The pilot did a gut check by flying out over Cedar Breaks and free falling for a split second. It was a rare opportunity and a fun experience. Here are some Pictures:

Lake Powell

We went to Lake Powell the first weekend in June to check out my dad's new boat. While the boat rides we took were very pleasant, the camping on Lone Rock Beach was kind of miserable. We arrived Friday night around 8:30 PM. We set up camp and decided to go to bed early since we had stayed up so late the night before packing. Well, there was this house boat that was docked in a bay right next to us (why they docked at Lone Rock with a house boat I will never understand). The house boat people stayed up until 2:30 AM laughing, screaming, drinking, swearing, blaring music, etc. Calina woke me up around 5:30 AM, so needless to say we didn't get much sleep... But the next day we did have a really great time on the boat. It was a very fun, very tiring day. We ended the day by eating Pizza at Wahweep for dinner. When we got back to camp we found a 1/2" layer of sand over everything that was in our tent. It was about 9:00 PM by then, so past time for our girls to be in bed and the prospect of getting our tent ready for sleep was just too much, so we ended up packing up camp and going home. We left around 10 PM and didn't get home until 1:30 AM. We crashed pretty hard the next day!! I still feel like I'm trying to recuperate from the trip! The thing that surprised us all was that Calina loved the boat more than most of us. She just seemed so content and happy, even in the high winds and sunshine. We kept sunscreen and cover on her all day and avoided sunburn, thankfully! We're thinking the constant rocking must have been right up her alley!

Our House

I decided to post some pictures of our NEW house! We just moved in in February. Andy did the wiring and with help from my family tiled the kitchen and bathrooms.

A Work In Progress

Andy has been working really hard on getting our yard started. We still have a ways to go, but he did plant 29 trees in the yard. He also got a drip system installed to make life easier watering 29 trees.

The tree on the side of the garage is an Autumn Blaze Maple. It was planted to shade the garage from the evening sun. In the background you can see the fruitless crabapple that we planted in the front yard for "decoration." We haven't seen it, but it's supposed to produce beautiful white flowers in the spring.


Here is a Hackberry tree that was planted in the east corner of the lot to block wind and morning sun on the house.

















Here is the south-east side of our house a row of Emerald Green Trees that should grow to be 10 to 15 feet tall to provide privacy and wind block.




This is the north corner of our lot where we planted an Austrian Pine which should get to be really big. It will block north winds.





This is where we planted our fruit trees, on the north east side of the lot. We planted a Big Utah Cherry, Elberta Peach, Bing Cherry, Gala Apple, and another Peach and an Apricot.

My First Entry

So, I've been under a lot of pressure to start a blog, so here it is....I'm not sure how often I will update it, but I thought something is better than nothing!
